Grow Ohio Valley’s Active Programs:

CSA
We provide summer and harvest (fall) weekly farm shares to more than 150 families through our Community Supported Agriculture program. Local produce grown using natural methods is aggregated from GrowOV’s farm sites and our family of farms. Pick-ups located at 14th and Jacob Street in East Wheeling, the Follansbee Farmers Market, and the Wellsburg Farmers Market.

Mobile Farmers Market
Our market truck brings fresh produce to low-access areas of our community, operating four days per week. Look out for the Funraiser mobile playground at this year’s stops. Find your stop! For the full schedule, click here.

Farmacy
Through partnerships with Wheeling Health Right and the Homeless Coalition, GrowOV administers the Farmacy program, through which patients with diet-related illness are prescribed boxes of fresh produce as medicine. Farmacy patients show dramatic improvements in health indicators, especially those related to diabetes. Food is sourced from GrowOV and partner local farms.

Education Programs
GrowOV reaches over 3,000 students each year through its myriad programs, including seven school gardens and Sprout Kids cooking and food literacy programming. For college students across the country, GrowOV runs Food Justice Immersion programs, during which students spend a week immersed hands-on learning about the region’s food system. Finally, GrowOV hosts Project Worm, through which Northwood Clients participate in vermicomposting (composting with worms) at the Outdoor Learning Center in East Wheeling.

Farm to School
GrowOV is proud to provide local produce to the Ohio County Schools, from its own and partnering local farms.

GrowOV’s Farm & Orchard Sites
We cultivate produce, poultry, and eight pigs on more than 20 acres of combined urban and rural farm sites, including Farm18 located on 18th Street under the highway overpass, a  300 tree orchard on Vineyard Hill, two high tunnels at “the Meadow” on the hill below Grandview Street and a farm site outside of Bethlehem.
