Nature walk
Public Market is partnering with Bill Beatty and Jan Runyan of Wellsburg, WV on a beautiful nature walk to welcome spring.
Beatty’s company, Wild & Natural, offers quality programming in environmental and nature education for schools, teacher workshops, and state parks. Forty years experience as a full-time naturalist, Beatty travels extensively teaching about nature. Author of four books and numerous magazine articles.
This nature walk will be a casual walk on their two acres of land in Wellsburg. Exploring a nice selection of wild edibles, medicinal plants, and bird watching. “Jan and I love living in West Virginia! We love being in nature and sharing it with others. West Virginia has great ecological diversity, which challenges me to find and identify all the many different plants, animals and other creatures that live here.”
Bill and Jan’s main goal is to “spread the word” about food independence and self-reliance. So, please join us on this exciting adventure. Light bites and beverages will be provided.
NOTE: This is a ticketed event of $15 per person. Limited of 15 cars on the property. We will be driving as a group from Public Market to the location.

Mother’s Day card making class — tickets here
Public Market is hosting Jes Arnold of Wheeling, WV on Saturday, May 3rd from Noon – 2pm
A unique and fantastic opportunity to have a guided workshop using the watercolor medium to craft your own card with an emphasis on individual expression. You will have access to a spectrum of watercolor paints and brushes, as well as everything else you need to create up to two 5×7 folding cards with your own original artwork!
You may have seen Jes around Wheeling at various farmer’s markets and artisan events. She is impressively talented with her craft. This is a rare opportunity to have such talent guide you or a young one in creating an extra special gift for Mother’s Day.
NOTE: This is a ticketed event of $35 per card set. If purchasing a ticket for a child with parental/guardian assistance, that will be just one ticket cost. If the parent/guardian would like to create their very own secondary card set, that will be a separate ticket cost.
